On the crisp morning of October 25, 2023, the University of the Cordilleras buzzed with excitement as third-year students gathered for a transformative seminar organized by the Neo Management Executive Club (NMEC). This event, aimed at deepening their understanding of statistics, was a pivotal step towards achieving Quality Education, one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Hosted by the dynamic duo, Mr. Inoru Tenshi A. Cariño and Miss Ruth Lara T. Orocay, the seminar promised a day of insightful learning and practical application.
The day began on a reflective note with a serene prayer led by Mr. Miguel Shane Joaquin David, setting a thoughtful tone for the proceedings. The seminar featured two distinguished speakers from the College of Business Administration, whose expertise significantly enriched the students’ academic journey.
Dr. Nikko P. Jayson Go kicked off the seminar with his session, “Conceptual Introduction of Statistics, Hypothesis Testing, and its Research Implications.” Dr. Go’s engaging presentation laid a solid foundation for statistical exploration, highlighting the critical role of quality education in scientific research. His clear explanations on variable classification and hypothesis testing illuminated the path for students to apply robust statistical methods in their research. The session was brought to life with practical examples of inferential statistical tests, making complex concepts accessible and relevant. An interactive Q&A session further empowered students to bridge the gap between theory and practice.
Following a brief intermission, the seminar resumed with Mr. Joe-el S. Marcelo’s hands-on workshop, “Analysis and Interpretation of Data.” This session was designed to arm students with essential data analysis skills, directly enhancing their educational experience. Mr. Marcelo’s practical approach, including the installation of the Data Analysis Toolpak in Excel, ensured that students could immediately apply their new skills. His interactive teaching style kept the participants engaged and eager to learn.
