Mastering Money Matters from Basic Financial Literacy to Understanding SSS Benefits

Baguio City, Philippines – On November 23, 2024, Camp 7 Elementary School buzzed with excitement as it hosted the groundbreaking “Mastering Money Matters” event. This dynamic initiative aimed to introduce elementary students and their families to essential financial literacy concepts and the benefits of Social Security System (SSS) membership, with the ultimate goal of instilling early financial planning habits.
The challenge of making financial concepts engaging and understandable for young minds was met with resounding success. Participants left with a heightened awareness of financial matters and a newfound appreciation for the importance of financial planning. The overwhelmingly positive feedback from attendees highlighted their clear understanding of the information presented.
The event’s primary objective was to foster a sense of social responsibility and enhance communication skills among students. Through this community outreach, students learned to simplify complex financial concepts for a diverse audience, a crucial skill for effective financial education. This experience underscored the importance of financial literacy in fostering long-term security and inspired students to delve deeper into this field academically and in future community service initiatives.

The event was made possible by the dedicated efforts of six JFINEX members, along with the invaluable guidance and expertise of faculty members Mr. John Carlo B. De Leon and Mr. Joe-el S. Marcelo. Their support was instrumental in the event’s success, leaving a lasting impact on all who attended.
